The main thing to remember is that females are not as aggressive as males, and it is safe to keep groups of them together. The rule of thumb when keeping female betta is to have them in odd number groups. As if you keep just two or uneven number of fish together one can end up bullied. female betta's unlike their colorful male counter parts are typically dull looking in appearance. They will form a pecking order if kept together with the dominant fish in charge of the others.
